The name DRO, short for Alejandro. Over time, it evolved into something far more meaningful:
Darkness Rolling Off — a symbol of my personal journey through hardship, healing, and growth.
And Down Right Original — a commitment to creating bold, meaningful, and custom artwork from the heart.

As a Marine Corps veteran, artist, and martial artist, my work is deeply rooted in discipline, resilience, and storytelling. Art has always been my outlet — from painting memorials for fallen warriors to designing uplifting illustrations for children’s books. It helped me process the weight of war and find peace through creation.

Today, my wife and I run Down Right Original, a veteran-owned art and design studio where we bring people’s visions to life through:

• Logo and brand design

• Children’s book illustration

• Graphic art and concept design

• Creative writing and story development (with my wife as our in-house writer)
